Don't Take Anything For Granted

After the Toby shoot last year where I failed to get the rifle zeroed I decided it's time for a looksie. Go to the range to zero the varmint rifle (7mm RM) after putting on another scope. Put a couple of red dots on the paper and staple it on the board at 25m, bore sight on a dot, then twiddle the right hand knob till the cross hair lines up on a dot. Pop a round off, hmm close to the dot, hang on, ... that's the wrong dot! About 9" to the right at 25m? Twiddle the knob to put full windage on and pop off another round, ... still 2" to the right at 25m.

Get home and check all the mounts. All OK. Remove scope and replace it with a 2m length of 30mm heavy aluminium tube from the garage. Yup, things are a bit skew-whiff, inside of the right hand side of the tube lines up with the hole in the barrel. Remove the EGW rail and using the eyeometer can see that the holes in the top of the receiver are heading left looking from the blunt end. Bugger! So remounted the Rail and rings and mounted the scope with the +/- 20 offset inserts turned 90^o to give me some windage.

Wouldn’t have that trouble with a blaser..... just saying :D

how big are the varmints where you live?

Is it a "lemington" as @veitnamcam would call it

Highly likely Remingtons are on the piss more often than not I always use Leupold adjustable windage bases or Burris Signature rings,

My little Zastava. Was Ok with the quick release Leupold rings/mounts it had before where difference could be adjusted out. But they were a pain as any change in pressure on the levers changed POI.

Poo thats not good, i find it hard enough to get the bullets to go where I want at the best of times with out that!!!

Poor quality control, the action holes are usually straight, its the recoil lug will be holding it pissed. take the bolt out and look through the action, line up with your eye the back of the action with the back of the chamber and see if the muzzel is off centre.

Poos they are a nice rifles hope it the only problem you have with it

You talking front and rear surfaces of the recoil lug not being parallel causing the barrel to point to one side?.

Should've just bought a Tikka in .243 or Latte-08

I can pretty much bug hole with it at 100m once everything is pointing in the same direction. Love the double set trigger, breathe heavily enough and it'll probably go off (no good if Phllipo and Brads are around together).

Yes the recoil lugs are stamped out and can have a slight bow in them, look up accurizing the remmington model 7/700.

When things are lined up it shoots bloody well for the Lada price tag. And there is nothing wrong with a Lada with a heated rear window. ;)

Mate worked at their import depot Everyone off the boat got new clutch new radiator new behind dash wiring cos it all was gonna fail first week

Junk is unfortunately junk . Is it acceptable to buy that when realistically it is not fit for purpose .?

I’ll always be Devils advocate and say it no offence intended though but it’s not the only crap on the market there’s plenty of it about ����

The Zastavas are usually pretty good though.

And its actually amazing where a lada will go
