Thread: DPT mk 2 performance?

Has anyone compared the older models to the new ones?I have an older model in .308 and use it on my boys 243 as well,( tight arse I know) thinking about getting a dedicated 243 one and was wondering how much better the newer models are?or should I save coin and try for a second had 243 ?thanks

Can’t compare I have the mk11 but have had the mk1 couldn’t tell you the difference but what fits the bill at the time

I honestly don't know, but I presume that the dedicated 243 suppressor will be tighter than the 308 one, i.e. the 308 is too big for the 243. I would not be surprised if that made a hell of a lot more of a difference than upgrading from mk1 to mk2

Keep suppressor- get a new 243

Could always just get dedicated baffle setup in 243 and keep using the mk1.

Its not often I'm right, but I could be wrong again ....... I think the Mk1 & Mk2 have differing over barrell lengths, which is only a problem if your running hard up against the forestock.

I have both, not quite sure how it happened, ( in the same calibre ) but anyway….. I can’t tell the difference between the 2
Just keep using the 308.

308 one is hard against the stock now so might not fit the mk2 ,I think it’s a bit longer than the mk 1

Are you talking about changing the baffles on the one barrel adaptor? Pretty dangerous if you're not very careful about checking correct baffles.

I've made a few over the years. I didn't play around much on the centrefire ones but on the rimfire ones I never noticed any difference if I opened it out an extra 1mm.

I have one of each, both on .284s. The barrel lengths are different (19 & 22), I honestly can’t tell the difference and none of the deer I’ve shot can either.
Buy what ever you can get a good deal on second hand or but MK11 new. It won’t make any noticeable difference. They’re not expensive so it’d personally get a new one. :-)

I've got both, ears can't tell the difference.

The theory states that the closer the baffle tolerances the better the gas stripping and the better performance you get, but like anything in the real world the main thing that dictates performance is the internal volume of the suppressor, the robustness of the materials used to make the suppressor (so it doesn't sound off like a drum) and the physical amount of gas you are trying to shove through the can (a .223 won't make the same noise as a .338).

The fact that a .243 is smaller than a .308 by about 3/4mm each side won't make a difference that you will be able to detect in use if using the same suppressor on each can. The are a couple of brands that only made their product in .308 and .223 and used the bigger size on everything.
