    Edumacate me re competition reamers

How do competition reamers differ from standard reamers ?

What are the benefits ? Most of the descriptions seem to talk about tighter necks and longer throats, what does this give you ?

    Who are the go-to manufacturers ? PT&G ?

Tighter neck should give you better brass life as less expansion and also better accuracy
For a bench rest rifle as the bullet should enter the lands straighter and long throat lets you seat higher bc
Pills to where you want them closer to the lands to make use of case capacity etc

Target reamers are usually made to SAMMI minimum specs, unless you specify they sizes on a reamer print.

Longer throat means you can use long bullets and not have to shove the bullet deeply into the case, but if you want to use it for hunting then the magazine dictates the COAL.
Tighter necks may mean you have to neck turn your brass to fit the chamber.

If the rifle is for target use then sure it is almost mandatory for a reamer speced for target work, if it's for hunting what is the maximum distance you normally shoot too? and what size animal do you intend hunting?

There would be a definite difference/requirement for shooting rabbits at 400yds compared to a deer at 400yds
