    Gecado 22lr extractor

    Hi ya'll,
I'm wanting to get my dad's Gecado single shot 22lr back up and running for him as it's coming up to the rifle's 50 year anniversary.
It's missing the extractor which I've found is a common issue with these (and other rifles) as it's a removable piece that falls out when you remove the bolt. It was lost by his brother, so no blame directed at Dad.
Any ideas where I might be able to locate one or suggestions of a gunsmith that would be able to make one?

Not much help I'm afraid. I have an old German 22 (company long gone, factory detroyed in WWII) with the same half moon extractor. I look after the extractor it like a new born babe. The Gecado Plinkers come up on TM a lot and are usually cheapish. You could buy one, get a smith to copy extractor and then resell, maybe with remade one in it, or hope someone here will LEND you one to copy. The chance of one otherwise (which I am sure you have already guessed) are zilch. If I ever lost mine I would have a go at making one myself but you really need one as a pattern. The Plinkers were/are a nice wee gun.

Make a pattern now before you do loose it.

Or better still make two new extractors from your pattern.

Keep one for yourself and sell one to Peril.

They are the same as the old Anschutz single shot. I lost mine when I was a kid 50 years ago, and fashioned a new one from a bit of flat steel with a file and drill. I recall (amazingly) that it was not difficult. If you have a pattern you could easily make one. If all else fails I know where there is one you could copy.

Later: I could arrange for the one I know of to be copied by Mitch Maxberry (a very well known gunsmith) and then send it on to you. I would need a pic of your breech to confirm that I'm correct about the Anschutz being the same, but I'm 99% certain. I don't think that it would cost much.

Any idea on what sort of cost Mitch Maxberry would charge? It's either that, or it goes up on the wall as a display piece.

    Gecado

    HI,
Wondering how you went with the Gecado action? I recently found one in my late mothers house, reasonable condition, thought i'd restore it. Took a few days to find out what .22 it was. It is missing the action!! I've looked for hours through the house to no avail.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I ended up locating another Gecado, but it has a different size extractor to the one I need to put my father's rifle back to a shootable state. Bit of a bugger as it made the surprise to my dad a bit of a nothing event. He was still grateful for it, but still not the effect I had planned.

The Gecado i have does not have plinker written on it, has a 65 and a little pattern on the barrel. Im in Australia, trying to apply for my firearms licence but the queensland government is kinda 10 years behind the rest of the world, keep getting errors when i try to pay and they are 2 months behind. If anyone is able to have the action and ejectors etc copied, and hang on to it till i get my licence, that would be awesome.

Had a thought, if it's the same and you can copy the action etc, let me know how much, then send it to my local gun dealer who can hold it for me.

I was given a Gecado Plinker on the weekend.

It's missing the extractor and the front sight.

I intend to make an extractor and replace the front sight to get it functioning again.

Did we ever get to copy an extractor and if so does anyone have a dimensioned drawing that I could use?

And does anyone have a front sight?

Any help will be greatly recieved

I believe this is the correct extractor
