Surprised - usually the LCD in them is a standard part which is often available as a generic from the electronic component retailers. The hardest bit is getting to the bit needing to be repaired, which for some units is actually impossible without surgery (Garmin milspec grade GPS units are like this, ultrasonically seam welded so the case basically is one piece).
