Good to see a sensible & rational review of facts.
Faarrrrk - I must tell Chaz someone called him a lad! Hint - it's debatable wether he'd have been born in the 40s or 50s Haha
And Chaz might challenge the threads titles piss poor spelling/grammar! Who's the 'young lad' that didn't do well at school? Lucky it's not part of the firearm application process! lol
He's certainly not a lad in any sense. It was a doctorial thesis. In trade terms these are the approximate equivalents
Lad= bachelor degree eg BSc
Chap= master's degree eg MSc
Bloke= doctorate eg PhD
Therefore he must be a bloke, and a good one at that😊
.....with all the grammar in the world (computers can deal with grammar and spelling mistakes) - there is no substitute for ideas, questioning and reasoning.
If everything was defined by spelling, grammar and rules, we would still be gathered around a fire worried about how many berries we could pick tomorrow.
How's life in your ivory tower - awfully lonely I'm guessing?
If you're looking for perfection in spelling, sentence structure and punctuation I respectfully refer you to Shakespeare or his contemporaries - there are probably support groups who can help you.
If you are expecting to find such on an internet forum, save us all some time and just fuck off.
Someone appears to have an anger management issue over an opinion and also needs to get over it.
Its amazing how a few "grumpy" actors manage to divert attention away from good and honest discussions...
For those unaware Chaz Forsyth in the topic article of this thread has written a huge number of articles over the years supporting licensed firearm users mainly in the recreation hunting side. Chaz is well respected within NZDA circles, a life member and at times will take the media to task over their inaccurate articles published. Chaz continues to voice his opinions on matters than concern us all.
Sorry for having not great spelling in the title didn’t realise it was such a touchy subject. There was no disrespect meant by calling him lad.

Chaz will get my support, Ive seen happen exactly what he is saying about the reversed effect of a register on firearms numbers. In South Africa it blew up in the enforcers faces and suddenly the number of legally owned and licenced firearms multiplied 6fold.
Club membership multiplied many times over and resulting in legal shooting activities sky rocketing.
Someone's speling sucks. That's about all I got out of that title because I can't read it.
I see Chaz quite often. He is what I call a Gun Academic. He should really be knighted at some stage. We'll wait till he's dead or we'll never hear the end of it.
If you ever hear anyone refer to the NZ ""Gun Lobby"" (or some similar invented phrase to make NZ firearms holders look like theyre aligned with some white supremacist group in the USA) understand that they are really just referring to Chaz Forsyth.
I'm just glad I'm not alone in my difficulties with spelling and grammar!
Chaz is a super nice bloke (an official title by the sounds of it). A fountain of knowledge when it comes to firearms. Always great to run into him at the range or around town.
havent seen him for near on 30 years..one heck of a nice bloke who really knows his guns inside and out....always remember his article on rifled .12ga and the experiments he did with them..lets lots of daylight in was one phrase used.
There is a dearth of information in Chaz’s research that brings into question many of the lies the police and politicians and in particular Cahill have been shouting out to the ignorant media propagandists.
I know this because he has been asking me to read through it and give my opinion quite a few times in past couple of years. I have huge respect for Chaz and his life’s work.
In my opinion this is who the Media should seek intelligent and informed comment from but they go to the likes of Cahill (proven liar) Hera Cook (a self confessed Marxist who is internet famous for losing her debate with a pro gun Canadian woman for starting the debate with a “feelings trump facts” approach) or worse any Green MP where they then run any dribble they spout unchallenged? The only caveat I would add is that Chaz has in my opinion a very healthy scepticism when it comes to dealing with reporters.
PS One of Chaz’s great challenges in the last few years of research has been the police not actually having kept proper records to back up many of the claims they have made. So when you want to analyse a claim made by them the reply is often given that we don’t keep records on this.

sounds like niwa and...others.
Probably a coincidence
It’s interesting to see how a bit of miss spelling has triggered people.

There’s plenty on this site that post poorly spelt comments, often with equally poor grammar.
Does that diminish the value of their contributions? Not in my books!
Who am I to pick holes in another members grammar and or spelling?
Been talking too/sitting at the same table as Chaz (NZDA Life member) this weekend in Ashburton for the NZDA 75th Conference, a fountain of knowledge for sure
Was a great conference, Nicole was there with plenty of interesting things to say & received a well deserved standing ovation :cool:
Dame Linda Topp did an amazing job as MC, gave my sir name an extremely posh twist, much to the delight of many :thumbsup:
Yes Greg, we noticed to our delight! Another great conference and some interesting discussions.
I knew Chas years ago, though not seen him for ages now, we live at opposite ends of the island. I always thought he was one of the clearest thinkers I've ever come across & a man of amazing passion for shooting as a pass time, that includes pretty much any aspect of it too, cartridge collecting, gunsmithing, shooting, hunting & as we've read, the legal bit. Thanks goodness he is on our side.
Wasn't standing up for him - just saying don't be a cunt. Does that satisfy your grammar and spelling requirement? :D
Not trying to be prickly - but not everyone who posts here has the eloquence to pass "School C" English; and it adds nothing to point that out.
