Hey buddy,
I am a NZ born KIWI who moved to the US at age 21 and returned to NZ - retired at age 52.
I am a US citizen and think that I have a reasonable understanding of the history and current political climate in both countries.
You certainly do have some interesting firearms but I do question why you would choose to post on a NZ Hunting and Shooting Forum.
If you think that you are being singled out on a NZ Forum because you are an "American" try moving to Seattle or anywhere on the West Coast and living with the liberal bull shit that I was exposed to for 15 years.
I'm currently on holiday in the Seattle area and happy to be back visiting with many people who I call friends but as the age old saying goes "don't talk about religion or politics with friends and family".

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

I think it is because your counntry's views on firearms and their use differs greatly from ours. Neither is wrong, per se, just we have different enviroments and cultures which colours our perspective as much as your enviroment and culture colours yours. So our views differ. Doesn't worry me, and it shouldn't worry you. If you were to come here and experience our country, you may see what we are on about, and I would hope you would respect our views. This goes the other way too, if I was to visit your country, I would respect your country's views and and would try to understand the way you see things. I don't expect you to understand or agree with our views as I may not understand or agree with yours, but I do understand your right to have those views and the culture of your society is what forms those.
Does that make sense to you? Some of my countrymen can be a little over the top with their disagreement and comments, as can some of your fellow countrymen. But most are good people that just see things from a different perspective, shaped by a different society.
Plenty of American members that dont feel the need to push their views. Keep it to sports shooting and hunting. Job tidy
I've always thought Miami's posts are simply punishing, nothing against the guy. As soon as he posts I skip straight past it. I actually think he needs to have his own thread for those that are interested in milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever
As our mate Systolic often points out, there's an ignore button, just use it. Old Miami doesn't derail all threads, he usually only posts in one or two of all the threads of the hundreds we have going at any one time. I just can't understand all this deranged screeching, it's a fucking embarrassment.
Identify your target beyond all doubt
Yes it's amazing how sensitive to the sight guns some hunters are. I'm not sure if they have looked on the gun porn thread and seen all the other "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever" owned by other members of the forum. Maybe they should look at their Lee Enfields and Mauser rifles and wounder where they came from, 60 odd years ago they were the "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever". All those flash mill dot scopes are a military design for combat so can also be classed as "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever".
Maybe we can have a divorce and end up NZ Shooting and NZ Hunting, that would be a shame because I like both hunting and shooting.
The hunters can throw the shooters under the bus with their "milspec & 'zombie' guns/whatever" because they don't like them. They will soon find that their long range sniper rifles are next on the wanted list. After that we can throw duck hunters and bird hunters on the heap. Don't worry deer and goat hunters you are being replaced by WARO and professional hunters. Shooters will sit back and laugh (actually no).
Sad state of affairs.
That may be the case in past but apparently not this time.
To be honest I would like to know the effectiveness of body armor also and consider wearing in the bush considering the way some people hunt in this country. Bet a 270 goes straight trough most of it. But at the end of the day, remember he doesn't even live in NZ so who cares.
If you are worried about "image to outsiders" personal insults and threats are not going to protect NZ firearms users and interests either.
trust me you don't wanna wear that shit whilst trudging through the forest it's heavy, restrictive, hot and at best unless it's military spec (which I can't comment on) it "may" be effective stopping light small arms fire but not at point blank.
and yes a .270 would most certainly pass straight through
maybe we need a fight threadI got kicked off the other forum for suggesting it
Took some new photos after moving.
