30cal o the 10/22 running subs is real quiet....
Got this back from @doubleshot today. Sako 75 270win. Rifle was rebarelled from a 25-06 (yuck...) and has a stainless barrel, original blue on action and bolt etc was getting worn too so had it cerakoted in "Socom Blue" which is a great match for original blueing. Real happy, looks like a new one (photo from phone sorry) Z5 will go back on my finnlight and have a VX5 on it's way for this rifle.

sfunny.
One of the first calibres I ever wanted was a 25/06. Flat shooting, not too big and boofy, and only a shade off a 270.
I Had a 243 semi that let me down and ended up with a Winchester 70 also in 243 and that was that.
They did an article in rod and rifle years ago about a kit rifle in 2506. Stock had to be finished off from memory. It got good write up's as a calibre which fuelled the fire a little
Mind you I also heard quite a few stories of the legendary 250-3000 from some good old hunters and thought "well it cant be too bad, its even quicker". Yanks like them too.
A relative of mine who's shot a lot of deer went from a 270 to a 2506 and didn't mind at all at least initially
After all that I also have a thing for 7mm rem mags and 7-08. Missed out on a mag once and never tried again so I obviously don't always get what I want.
I do have a 416 rem mag though lol
Just not one of the popular calibres in NZ when there are so many around that are just as capable-now more than ever.
Thats way too nice for Doyleston,or even Irwell.Thats more of a Prebbelton Rifle.
Do you know where the Shingle pit is if you want to sight it in?To the top end of Drain Road and then round the easy left hander, follow your nose to where the tarmac changes to a Shingle Road and its on your right
Nice cheers for that I do have a big shingle pile on the farm that I use for load development etc at the moment but due to the location I'm basically right outside our neighbors house at my shooting position, they haven't said anything but I'm sure a braked rifle barking away doesn't really thrill them

Sponsored? Buggered if I could afford paying for one. [emoji16]
I would be partial to a caesar guerini if I got back into sporting.
A good mate of mine just got an F3 sponsored. He had a perrazi for a few years.

Trueflite ultramatch 26" number 3 1 in 10 300 win mag
STUG stock
Terminator T2
DPT 20 MOA rail
Limbsaver
Leopold PRW rings
Trigger Job done by Trueflite also.
Vortex HST 4-16 x 44 MRAD
Shoots not too bad with Sellior and Bellot 180 gr Partitions. Good enough for hunting the roar atleast!
That looks pretty neat for a shotgun rushy.. Except that weird abomination of a magwell what's the story there looks like a loudspeaker haha
Allows the user to be a little bit sloppy on a mag change. They work very well.
Wot Towley said Ryan. It is a failing eyesight compensator.
Gave a new lease of life to my old Sako Forester.
Rebarelled to .260rem and bedded into a McMillan stock. I'll see how it shoots this week, should be a good'un

Wearing the latest and greatest 30 cal barrel in 30-06[emoji4]. 23.5”

My latest rifle is a Howa Varminter in 6.5 Creedmoor in a Boyds laminate stock. It wears a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 FFP MRAD with the G2DMR reticle. I've bedded the recoil lug and tang, lapped the bolt lugs, fitted two piece 20MOA bases and put a DPT over-barrel suppressor on it. Shoots 143gr ELD-X on 42.4gr AR2209 in Lapua SR brass, MV of 2,730fps. Total weight with bipod and full mag is 13lbs.
After initial load development, sighting in and drop testing the loads and scope out to 600m, I took this rifle up the hill and nailed a mob of goats between 404m and 535m. Pretty happy with that. Since then it's been out a couple of times for pre-roar red spiker clean ups, which the ELD-X flattens with a shoulder shot, furthest so far was ranged at 598m... 48 clicks up and down he went. Very efficient and accurate medium range killer, looking at the energy it should expand the ELD-X properly out to 700m which is about the limit for deer with this rig.

Very nice @Flyblown what sort of rings did you put on?
They are steel, very low, don't know the make. I've carried them around in parts box for years and years. With the 20MOA bases I needed properly low "low" rings, all the four screw tactical stuff I've seen so far is too high.
With the overall weight and relative low recoil, I'm hoping the rings stay put, we'll see. If not, they'll get upgraded, to what I don't know.
@Danny very nice, is that the 1.7-10 Swaro? What do you think of the scope?
