    Happy 100 .270!

A good summation here of one of the most successful non military cartridges ever.

Uncommon opinion: the .270 was/is the 'Creedmoor' (of it's time) and it took nearly 90 odd years to move beyond with more efficient powders, greater knowledge of projectiles and twist rates etc. A great cartridge still.
"O Great Guru what projectile should I use in my .308?" To which the guru replied, "It doesn't matter."

As they said in the blog, Give the 270 the same projectiles, twist rate and powders, and it still outperforms the creed, and arguably the PRC if you are going with a PRC because of barrel length.

Hard post to read, like celebrating the black sheep of the family's birthday as the overshadowed sibling haha.

I suspect it will be even more so in another few years when the 6.5 manbun has fallen further from favour. The .270w just works, not the most popular round but those that use it seldom complain. Like many,if you use right projectiles and put them in right place, the freezer will stay full. I've shot many deer in wrong place with one and still brought home venison.

Well I happy to bet $20 with you in another hundred years which one will still be around... Of course neither of us will be around to collect lol. But yes during lean years of the 80s I was guilty of Russian heart shots on quite a few occasions.
