It unfortunately falls outside my preference for weight range - above 700gm there are many good options, below 650 there are not! Keen to see results though

Yea it’s hard to find the perfect scope, there’s always a compromise to be had somewhere. Ticks the reliability, magnification, focal plane and reticle boxes for me so I just have to live with the weight. Just a bit more gym work I guess…..

The 2.5-10 NXS I have would be perfect if it was in FFP

I'm not fussed on that Maven scope, a bit heavy, slightly narrow FOV, not loving the reticle.
It feels like it's close but I've got enough scopes at them moment I'm not rushing to buy one.

Are you importing one from the USA?

The Leupold Mark 4hd 2.5-10x42 looks pretty nice, might pick one up some day.

10rnds to in a thin barrel is asking a lot. Could timelapse 3 x groups I’ll just have to break position in between.

Thats the thing isn't it...past two shots and you risk limiting the guns accuracy potential (and barrel life). And the irony is that you only need fine accuracy with more than one shot in a small percentage of hunting situations. When I'm shooting for accuracy its two shots and walk to the target...600 yards away mostly.

Yeah cool your barrel if you believe in it. I don't, and it doesn't seem to matter with this 223 which is only a "sporter" contour.

There will be a lot of excuses, this is a "3 Shot Wallet Group" forum in the main. It is a tough challenge.



Here is my go from after work tonight, not there yet but encouraging enough to keep refining things (my shooting, reloading consistency etc) . . . . The Fiocchi factory ammo is very interesting! Sako not so much despite the fantasies of the 3 shot boys.

There's nothing wrong with a rifle not shooting "1moa" with the right definition of "shooting 1moa"

It's clearly demonstrable that 3-shot sub-moa groups without considering relative posiiton may actually mean your rifle is only consistently capable of hitting a 2-3moa target.

Most hunting rifles that shoot sub moa 3-5 shot groups are probably more likely 1.5-2 moa rifles. It's just easy to lie to yourself with 3 shot groups, and the zeitgeist has set unrealistic expectations - everyone is embarrassed to have a rifle that "won't shoot 1moa". Funnily enough it takes a bit of courage to go test what it will actually do - what is a more realistic picture of the overall dispersion.

Breaking and resetting position between groups to aggregate shouldn't be considered a problem; it's directly relevant to the real world use of a rifle. You break and reset position between zeroing and trying to shoot an animal.

You'd be surprised at what a well made thin barrel would do.

I shot my few few competitions and a few F Class rounds with a factory Tikka 260, 10+ round strings didn't effect accuracy much, or at all.

That being said the difference between a 223, 260, 308 and 7rem mag is vastly different.
