Thread: How best to return a scope overseas?

Keep hounding them for insurance payout, however I thought they only cover up to $2000?

They damaged a scope I sent once and took me 2 months of constant ringing to get $1000 out of them.

On the list of things they will not accept is collectables. There is the odd stamp collector about so essentially when you put a postage stamp on your letter that takes it into the not accepted category.

Huh?

On the NZ Post list of prohibited items, it has firearms or firearm parts. Call it something else all you like, a rifle scope isn't a Theodolite and we all know that. They don't even have to return it to you or provide any cover for loss or damage.

The policy is misinterpreted by DHL. A scope is not an integral firearm part.

Prohibited or not, they have lost the damn thing. They need to find it. Pronto.

Reading the list of restricted items and the reference to the scope it is not an integral part of the firearm it is a part that can be added. That would be like saying a telescope is prohibited because you can strap it to a gun.
Hope you get the money back and a new scope!

Bank cards and credit cards and stamps appear on the prohibited list, any one get theirs in the mail recently? They dont know what they are doing clearly

UPDATE. The scope is delivered to Queensland Gun Exchange....who have sent me proof of life

So...no problem sending as theodolite. NZ Post completely confused matters when I got a second call saying they returning it as prohibited (when I had already collected and reposted)...anyway too hard to explain.

Next update on the solution hopefully.

Well done, I had a similar moment sending stock to Norway, got told it had been turned around in Germany, but it ended up in Norway. Hugh sigh of relief by two people.

Yep. They have suggested replaced with a demo as easier for their accounts people. I have said no a demo has less resale value for me and the scope was as new as the day they sent it so should be replaced with same.

Good to see the warranty is going to be honoured. The blow off valve must have been close to venting when they offered you an ex demo after all the f@#kn around.

Was pretty close but they have been great - NZ Post....not so much.
