Hi all, I'm trying to decide how big to go with the schnabel on the stock I am building. I have plenty of timber to work with:

I was initially thinking something on the smaller end like the K95's have, but then thought why not go a bit bigger like the 2nd picture?

I do like the K9 one thats is pure understated elegance right there

When stock building even when you think it's right you keep going back and refining things over and over.
I have at least a dozen rifles with schnabels and most are very slight, more aesthetic than functional.
It's definitely more for aesthetics than functionality, I think I will start big and work my way down

The k95 one is attractive because of its "organic curve" which matches the grain of the timber. If it was a straight join it would be ugly by comparison

Anyway, can someone tell me the practical value of a schnabel? Never figured that out.
