How long have I got to supply an import permit to customs?

Some good sales ATM with black friday so ordering some AR mags from webyshops, import permit it still in the works.
If the shipment arrives at customs how long have I got to send the paperwork before they dispose of it?

    28 days.
But be aware it is an offence under the Arms Act to import restricted items without an import permit.
Plus it can take about 4-6 weeks to get the permit from pnhq. Unless they will fast track it for you.

As long as you have requested the permit before you place the order you're good to go. They just want to stop people chancing it and only getting a permit once it gets stopped at customs.

That would be if they approve it. And I'm pretty sure the act says you need the permit to import.
But it is everyone's choice to import without a permit. You run the gauntlet. But customs will hold for 28 days then destroy.
I'm fairly sure customs won't hold the item for 8 weeks or so for you to get your permit.
Easy way, get permits months before you want the item.

Looking at the revised pol67b it actually has a section "HAVE GOODS BEEN DETAINED BY N.Z CUSTOMS" yes or no. so they must be allowing for pre-order. Still i don't want to risk having mags destroyed for an extra months wait

Don't wait till now to get permits, Get them first then order second because depending on how PLOD are currently "Interpreting the law" as opposed to actually just enforcing it the way it was written you may be in for a long wait.
If they are for an "E" firearm then get the permit first. better safe than sorry (and a black mark for your name in Customs..................................or worse)

Did I say get the permit first.
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

Pretty sure that Webyshops won't export firearms parts.
