How long should a hardy suppressor last?

How long would you expect a Gen 4 Hardy magnum can to last?

    On a 7mmRM with a 22" barrel.

Done 400 rounds at most and its poked... had a small piece of metal rattling round in it and groups have gone to absolute shit. Shoots fine without the can on.

I thought it would have lasted multiple longer than that.
Check out his site, I think it has lifespan on it. If not call him and he should replace it.

A magnum calibre with a 22" barrel is very hard on a suppressor.....

Yes probably 400 magnum rounds on an alloy suppressor is about it.

I'll only use lightweight suppressors on dedicated hunting rifles.

Barrel length is the number one killer especially combined with a magnum.

On the shorter barrelled semis iv popped All brands... Most only lasting 2 or 3 mags.

If your Shooting it a bunch then I'd at least go modular so you can inspect and replace baffles when required.

About two strikes with a hammer, or one with an axe or sledge.........

On a more serious note I would think for the money, that it would last longer than a few hundred rounds. If it is made for magnum calibres it should be able to cope with them. It it is not lasting then I would suggest it is not handling that calibre and as such should not be sold as suitable for that calibre.

With his prices, it would mean you paid over $1.00 per shot for the suppressor on top of your ammo cost. I would suggest having a word and see what he says. From my own personal experience, I am not sure it will help though.

Doesn't sound like it's 'fit-for-purpose'. Regardless of warranty, products can be expected to last a 'reasonable' length of time / amount of use. We can all accept that suppressors have a finite life, but 400rnds?!? Go back to him for a solution. If you're not satisfied, I think the CGA would support your case.

Wouldnt even bother talking to him, you'll only end up more pissed off. 400 rounds is probably about right, save the hassle and throw it away. Get a decent one made of stainless.

I was definitely aware that the shorter barrel (only 2" shorter than factory!) would shorten the life span a bit but even so I am a bit disappointed with 350 rounds. I have stainless (MAE) on another gun but wanted to avoid a bit of weight with this gun. Even with a "dedicated" hunting gun which this is its pretty easy to shoot 400 rnds over a few years......load dev, sighting in, changing loads, bit of real word practice (goats) etc

Is 2" really going to make that much difference? Even if it was 40% more wear with the shorter barrel thats still less than 500 rnds before its buggerd. Not enough in my opinion for a $600 suppressor

That calibre has quite a bit of powder going down the barrel. Especially if you fire a string of shots at a time. Shooting is always subject to the Law of Physics i.e. there is a price for everything.

Yup Rem Mag has a lot of powder and because of this the pressure at the muzzle is very high especially with a short barrel I can run the numbers

Mines 26 inches and I've had at least 500 rounds through my gen 4 hardy suppressor, lord knows how many the previous owner put through it and it still going strong
