Excellent.
Depends how long it is in customs........
Yeah customs have been super shit lately.
Bought one eight months ago and it took just over a week.

progressing nicely, fingers crossed there is no hickups with customs
I waited 6 working days for my last one from the US to hit customs, it's been there since tuesday
if I get it this coming monday it will take exactly the same time to travel from Auckland to me as it does from Missouri, if I don't well....
Well at least our scopes will have each others company mine is also sitting there too
I placed an order from the states on november 5 our time and it turned up yesterday. It wasnt liable for gst though, i would add another 3 days onto it if it was.
Hi all
Are scopes over $400nzd liable for GST? What's the rules on it?
Cheers
it appears my scope has been sitting in "customs clearance" since november the 14th? with no movement since then, what is the cource of action when it hits a stop like this?
do you call them and rev them up?
Is it over 400nz? If it is you will get a letter in the mail informing you how much you have to pay or a broker for the postal service will ring you for a credit card payment. If its not over 400 then im picking you will get an update on your tracking either sometime today or tomorrow saying the customs processing is complete and it should be with you the next day. If its over 1000nz then you will get an email asking for your import code number thing. If you dont have one of these you will have to apply but its a one off thing and you file it away for next time. That process may take 3 days.
yup its well over 400, just on a thousand usd.
I just need to learn to forget i order things then I wont be sitting on my hands waiting
sadly im Rural and rural delevery takes an extra 2-3 days for anything usefull to happen
Thats why i have everything shipped to my mates work in town so he can ring me when it comes in.
I will be joining the waiting game tonight Bill.......... might be here for Xmas if im lucky.
luckily its only an upgrade for me so its just me being impatient
customs letter arrived today, $236 gst demand.
ah well progress if nothing else
15% + a few fees and charges
Bill
Is it still worth importing direct? I am looking to bring in some more scopes and was just wondering..............
Yup still cheaper
And exactly what I'm after. Which is more to the point, and really I wanted to see how the system worked.
Basically you order it and unless customs wants gst off it it turns up on your door step. I thaught it has to be harder than that? Or why wouldn't everyone do it? Well it's not and everyone should
Now that iv payed the required GST add on from customs, am i required to get in touch to let them know Iv payed them?
Its been nearly a week and my scope hasnt moved and inch
How did you pay it? I do the credit card thing over the phone and its usualy here the next day.
I payed using the bill payment thing in my internet banking, on the 21st of november
I would think that something would happen by now? tracking says it hasnt moved.
Is there a way that the customs can check if it is still in their possession? my tracking tells me It still hasnt moved.
aparently sometimes things can happen that payments dont get proporly connected with items which mean that Items even tho payed for dont get automatically released, rang NZ post this morning, "no we havent got a release notice yet" then rang customs "ok i see your payment and now have manually released it" so the gears are finally moving again.
frustrating.
Hope it gets to you soon mate.
I brought a Vortex Diamondback from TheOpticZone.com last month for $320NZD delivered (shops here selling for $450+) and it took 2 weeks to get to my door. which i thought was pretty good.
I think if the GST value of the item is more than $60 they will send you a bill otherwise you are GST free :D
Mine has just left the sorting facility at Grand Rapids! What a sweet sounding place :)
As soon as it says in customs I jyst ring them and sort it on the phone. I have never waited for a letter in the mail just get them to email the invoice. They seem to like being slack until you ring and then the ball starts rolling very quickly
I definitly get that feeling, scope arrived on the 15th, letter was sent and dated the 19th.
surely it could be streamlined a lot more than that
