Thread: Howa 1500 short action or Mini action???????

Hi All

My research into a suitable .223 as my first (owned) centre fire rifle has brought me to a need for a decision.

I'm almost certain that I'll go for a Howa 1500 1:9 twist but can't decide between the new mini action or the older model short action. Price of the short action is better but am looking for the best accuracy (in theory)

Any comments/suggestions/experiences greatly appreciated.

If you are going to carry the thing around a bit, go with the mini action, much lighter. As to accuracy, the barrel profiles are Similar and come from the same factory...

The mini comes with the box mag. If you want a flush internal mag the normal one is the way to go. Both are good. I wish I had that dilemma....

You can get heavier barrel profiles in the SA if you intend to mainly use it as a range rifle.
