Yup, pretty much exact same dimensions as mine. 2.927" with a 143gr ELD-X.
For the kind of shooting I do, rapid goat elimination, 2.870" was right on the limit of what I could reload quickly. For ease of fast top re-loading, 2.850" worked well. I probably should have said 2.870", not what I ended up choosing, sorry about that.

I find that after 5 shots, and of course 5 dead goats tumbling down the face ha ha, the mob will be on the move and there's usually time to fully reload the internal mag while we wait for them to stop. If not then I'll just single load until they do, or we run out of goats. I had to practice fast reloading in the prone position a fair bit with dummy rounds, as at first I was making the same mistake - not pushing the round all the way back so the head contacted the rear of the action and the tip would clear the front. A top tip for extended prone shooting sessions is to have nice fat elbow pads on both arms.
What I love about this rifle is that you can put 15-20 shots down the tube in a fairly short amount of time, and whilst the suppressor is hot as, the barrel is still well within what I would call "comfortable holding" temperature, with no apparent shift in POI and still happily bowling them over past 600m. Last time out I shot side by side with a mate and his Sako 6.5x55 with the standard #2 contour (?) and of course he had to stop after a few shots while I just kept trucking along.

Sounds like a gong session wouldn’t heat it up too much
I will unleash 8, 9, 10 shots on a mob of goats one after the other, few pauses in between of course to reload, or wait for the mob to stop running, range checking, whatever, and the barrel will be fairly warm, but never hot. Nowhere remotely close to how hot a sporter contour barrel would be. No discernible shift in POI which I’d be able to tell at 500m I reckon. For that reason alone its worth the extra weight. I accept that barrels are a consumable and don’t worry about it.
How do the varmints group. I'm looking at picking one up

After only 10 rounds down a brand new tube with norma 130gn factory match ammo
After 70-100 I will expect even better once the barrel is broken in and a have a handload developed
My soprter barreled howa shoots 0.3” at 100 so Willie be disappointed if I can’t match or better it
Those results with factory ammunition are a good sign

Photo from the end of the initial ladder test. Would have been about 20 shots down the tube, this at the end to check pressure signs which had just started. Not going to win any comps nor is it anything particularly noteworthy accurate wise... but from a $900 rifle and pretty basic handloads made with the absolute barest minimum of gear, by a bloke who hates shooting at paper and can’t wait for it to be over so he can go up the hill and kill pests, its not too bad.
Backed off the load, easy repeatable half MOA rifle. Rambo, my .243 Howa sporter is a half MOA rifle too if I can be bothered but it is a bit fussy load wise, had to work quite hard to get there, whereas the Varmint was easy.
