Alright, so went and checked out a few binos today and I may have to spend more The ones I was thinking, the Yosimites 8 x 30 and Bushnell 8 x 32 Trophy didn't quite feel right.... tried the Bushnell Trophy 8x42 and they seemed better to me, picked up some Leupold Cascades but don't think the budget will go quite that far... what are peoples thoughts about the Bushnell Trophy 8x42 or a better option around the $300 mark... thanks

Yes. Even look at bringing something in, open box stuff is good.

Yes. Normally opened for folks to try in the shop then flogged off for a good discount. Also worth looking for stuff on sale too.

Have a pair of Bushnell Legend 8x42s. Few years old but still fantastic binos, rainguard etc...few scratches on lenses but doesnt affect performance terribly...pm if interested, within your budget and a big step up from Trophys!

+1 on the 8x30 Yosemites, i have some, they were my first binos when i started hunting. I used them for bush and when i started venturing out up the tops. They are very good for the $, great value for money. I have now purchased some 10x42 Vortex Diamondbacks for taking up the tops, and they are great too, but too big and heavy for a bush/all round bino.

I highly recommend the Yosemites for your situation and budget, you wont be disappointed.

I have Zenrays the older model.

I really rate them, have compared to some top end glass and don"t see all the $$$$ in between for the difference.

Whats the eye relief like with these?
Do I have to smush then into my eyeballs like the Yukon spotting scope, or are they a little more comfortable than that? I wasn't disappointed with the spotting scopes optics so I hope the binos are as good
Could be quite keen in a few days

I purchased a pair of Leica Tripod 10X42 in 1995 they have seen their share of use. Cant remember the exact price but it was around $3000 I think. Couldn't really afford them and got into a bit of strife from her indoors.
Sent then off to Lackland 5 weeks ago to get focus fixed they forward them onto Leica in Germany.
I now have them back and the Binos were repaired and FULLY refurbished at N/C. They look just like a brand new pair.
I now think the original purchase price was well worth it.
I suggest you buy the best quality glasses from an established manufacturer who has a proven reputation of supporting their products and customers.

I use Leupold Acadia Bino's because it was all I could afford at the time, sure there are far better brands out there if you want to spend in excess of $1000, but they do the job for me and I have no complaints.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I purchased a 'Jason' 10x25 on my first weekly wage for $225. I never spent a cent on any booze petrol or anything that week it was my whole weekly wage back in 1989. Still got them today and they are light and easy to stuff under your shirt when bush bashing.
What does someone earn these days on a weekly wage?
