    I need some advice re an L1A1

    I have been asked to dispose of an L1A1 in sporting configeration but I am pondering if it would be better to return it to its original and have it registered as an MSSA.
    I can get hold of the flash hider butt and pistol grip to undertake the conversion.
    I have an MSSA licence.
    Which way would it be more valuble and would any one be interested one way or the other.
    Your advice would be apreciated.

    My view is return it to its original configuration. Like Tommy I would like to see it.

    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
    Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
    Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
    Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
    Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
    Rule 5: Check your firing zone
    Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
    Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

    An L1 ( FN, R1) in original form has to be one of the most desirable military rifles. Accurate, penetrates most cover in bushy conditions and with moderate recoil if dialed in right and is far more accurate than most soldiers can aim it. I would suspect that a nice black one would be starting to become a rarity? I handed mine back in the early '90s with a heavy heart. Restore the old war horse would be my advice.

    ill swap a .22 with a usb charger screwed to the side of it, and an eraser for a recoil pad. also can add a ball point pen bayonet attachment.

    In A category configuration ("sporting configuration" has been repealed) it would, in my opinion appeal to a smaller market. Most A category holders would be into their bolt action rifles and have little interest for an A category L1A1.

    Almost no E category holder would want it as it's not an historically accurate representation of the rifle. I'd implore you to restore it to its original configuration.

    Its worth more as a A cat rifles these days, you would be doing the person your selling it for a diservice by restoring it for sale.

    I have a freind who is curently looking for a A cat one, please pm me more info
