if I was to get a Yankee mate to buy a stock for me over there...

Could he post it to me? Or would he need to be a FFL holder?

    Stock maker won't ship internationally

In NZ you do not need a permit to import a stock. I think that in the US it is regarded as a firearm part and needs a licence to export if above a certain value (Pretty sure this is why Boyd's won't ship stocks over $100 value). Trying to find someone who will ship rifle stocks (as they regard them as part of a rifle) can be hard.
Check the US firearms regs very carefully because you do not want your mate to end up in jail.

Fixed that for you. ITAR holds all persons who attributed to the export liable. Meaning they can threaten you with civil action.

I am sure I saw at Boyds website that they don't have restrictions on shotgun stocks, please double check.

    Hope it helps.

"Rifle orders with a product value over $100.00 CANNOT be exported (excluding Canada). There is no value limit on Shotgun stocks & Forends." - This is directly from their website under international customers.

There are plenty of stock retailers will to ship. While their websites say no, flick them an email or phone and most of the big one will (including Stocky's).

Not sure about the US side of the deal. If you want to import a stock into New Zealand, whether or not you need an import permit depends on what firearm the stock is designed or intended for.

If the stock is designed OR intended for use on a military style semi automatic (aka 'modern sporting rifle' in the USA), a restricted weapon or pistol then you will need an import permit issued by the New Zealand Police. If the stock is not designed particularly for a MSR/MSSA or restricted weapon AND you do not intend to use it on a MSR/MSSA or restricted weapon, then no import permit is required.

It's a browning citori stock set from midwest gun works. Being the cheerful bunch they are they won't ship overseas so a third party is the only way
