Your mate will probably have to get a permit to take firearm related products out of Oz.
typical Australia up to its neck in bureaucracy.. spoke to the Aus defence department and they told me that yes, anything that is a firearm, able to be attached to a firearm (even a replica firearm) needs a full blown identity verification and defence export permit. it is possible, but probably the opposite of easy for an individual...
