Importing riles from America or Canada

Who would be the best company to use overseas to import a rifle in 458 Win Mag or 458 Lott.

I haven't been able to find any available here so I will look to import.

Any ideas or suggestions of who to use to export.

Or does someone have one that they want t sell for a good price.

I did a bit of looking around for some pistols and it's about $1000 NZ before you even buy anything.I think it's uneconomic for 1 gun.I know a man with a 458 Lott...

I had a quick read of the other thread given, and yes its not worth it for one rifle. I will look around for a rifle to pop up here for sale.
One will come up at some stage. A 458 Lott would be good to get.
But will see what comes up. Would go for a 458 Win Mag or Lott or maybe a 460 weatherby.
I think the days of saving money importing stuff has well gone

I'd suggest maybe talking to someone like Darrin who is also on here as USAGuns as he already imports special items as well as he does a lot of aftermarket parts etc for the like Kidd etc.

His website is I think usaguns.co.nz or maybe do it yourself through Borderview but can take a bit of set up etc.
Worth talking to at least to get an idea of what its going to cost you.

    cheers

I'm currently in the process of importing a rifle from Canada and another from the uk.

All I can say is never again, have done a lot of self importing(50+ guns) and these days unless it's something you just have to have at any cost it's just not worth it.
The time drags on and the cost just keeps climbing.

There are import agents, I don't know if they are any better but I'll be looking into it for any further imports(and they would only be for collecting purposes not sport shooting of any sort)

Might be cheaper to put in a special order. Kilwell are the CZ agent. Zastava also make a 458 winmag. Winchester make a 458 win mag of course. Might have to wait a bit and pay a depsoit.

I think that would be a good idea. I would get the 458 Lott if cz made them.
If you go big you might as well go the whole way.
Might see what's out there at the moment. Don't have th coin to getone yet .

Have fired a 458 Lott. Interesting. The owner was heading off to NT chasing buffs. Rifle was a Ruger bolt gun. If you fancy Ruge ars Furleys may be worth a call. Certainly will not be a calibre that sits on NZ importers' stock shelves though.

I would go a CZ over a Ruger anyday.

The only way its worth importing a rifle is if its "special" & or not available here.

    Thanks for the advice.
I will buy one from here rather than importing one. Far easier, even if it costs a little more, it will be worth it to save me the hassle and stress

I imported a Barrett 98B a few years ago now, it cost the US price, around $4500 USD, plus 10% or $500 USD which ever was more & $400 USD freight to Christchurch, I drove 9 hours + return to pick it up & paid customs fees & GST..... but there is no way at all I could have got it here then.....

I can import rifles using a contact over there but it just costs $$$ & takes time....sometimes lots of both....

Its annoying enough importing parts, so a rifle would be a massive effort.
Is it that bad from every country or just from America
