Yes, that was what I was angling at. Thanks for that.

I'm looking at buying a skinner peep for the 22
Do these too, no longer require permits?
Digging up a slightly old thread here, but I'm looking at importing a pair of binos. I'm trying to work out what the go is with the $1000 limit for customs duty. The item itself will be $998NZD and shipping will be $112NZD.
The total cost is obviously over the $1000 limit, but I can't work out if customs takes into account the shipping cost or just uses the value of the item when deciding whether it needs duty paid. I've used the duty estimator and it suggests that I won't have to pay any duty, but I've read elsewhere that suggests they take shipping into account.

Does anyone have any experience in this sort of case? It's a pair of Tract binos, from memory @Tahr is the local expert on Tract?
Their binos are great. I have 2 pairs. And 2 of their 'scopes.
Customs seem to use whatever value the seller declares on the package.
Weird that their own calculator doesn't include it then

Its Pot Luck
You may get a "pass" or you may get clobbered
GST - Duty (duty not on bino) Customs Clearance Fee - GST on top of that
I just imported 3k US$ worth of clothing today
AND - it looks like its completely skipped ALL fee's GST etc.
So being my B Day - maybe a present
Happy me - I have a win finally
Be a 1st that is for sure !!
FYI if anyone else happens to be eying up Tract binos like I was, they've got a $100 discount on at the moment which brings the cost comfortably under the $1k limit
