Hey guys, quick question, will I need an import permit to bring in some rings, maybe a 1 pce mount?. Looking at a set of seekins or badgers in 30mm from the states and wasn't too sure if they are classified as firearm parts or not

If it's for an A-cat firearm, the only "part" that requires an import permit is the action.
If its over $99.99USD you might get stung for a $250USD export permit.

The optics zone is the place for rings. There minimum shipping on the web site is $45usd but if you e-mail the nice bloke and ask hi to put it in the $25 flat rate us post box he will. You can fit a couple of sets of rings or some butlet creek scope caps in the box but not much more. No permit required.
No permit is required for scopes or rings.
I have bought rings from Natchez Shooter Supplies and The Rifle Scope Store and a scope from Natchez with no problems.
Some shops wont ship Internationally, but many will so just shop around.
Beetroot, can I ask what the cost for shipping was from Natchez? They have some very cheap scopes on special but at a guess wouldn't be worth it by the time it lands here. I paid 50USD on shipping for my scope + taxes.
50USD seems to be the standard cost for shipping a scope.
I think its due to the weight range and size of box makes it a set cost with USPS.
If it costs under 400NZD you wont have to pay GST, but the dollar being weak means you have less to spend if you want to avoid tax.
I bought a scope, a set of rings and a few other random bits and the shipping was about 50USD, this was March this year.
