Hi tech stocks seem to have a good reputation among forum members. Has anyone had any recent experience buying a Kroseg stock? Company has had a brand change since it was bought out by Hardy.
Can you just plug a tikka action in and shoot or should these be bedded also ?

There's always a possibility that you will need to bed a composite, laminate, walnut, or synthetic stock, in order to get the most out of a rifle. Heck I've even had a chassis that needed some work.
If it comes with the alloy bedding block then it's plug and play like the Hi-tec stocks
I got one for a Howa mini not long after his untimely demise so not sure if it was old stock or manufactured under new management but I was up 4 clicks and perfect.
The alloy bedding block later versions were designed to drop straight in and torque up. Having said that I did get Ken to bed my Tikka, but thats just me, most of my rifles are and I wanted more bearing surface on the action.
They are good stocks, especially now the yank ones getting expensive. Drop it in and shoot see how shoots first and you are happy?
I had in my hand last week on a couple of glacier rifle company carbon stocks for tikkas. They are as well made as ken production , they have an internal aluminium v block and also a picatinny rail blended in with the fore end close to the tip. And their price is still around the 1200 mark I beleive .
Also , at some stage we are probably going to see some stocky’s carbon stock reaching our shores . Their prices should be reasonably competitive if the importer does not get too greedy.
I've emailed Kroseg about a few things and got timely and useful replies. I wasn't expecting that because Hardy have such a bad reputation re: customer service. They said that they would need the rifle for bedding which is interesting because I thought these things were plug and play.

Just ordered a hunter stock for my T3X from them. The response was pretty fast, all done through email. The lady pretty much replied within a couple of hours.
They can also customise the paint job. I got them to add some orange paint to the thundra Camo with no additional cost.
No glass bedding required. The weight is pretty good- around 715g compared to a lot of after market ones that’s around 1kg.
Have to wait until July for delivery though . Will let you know how it goes

I got the painted one for $1670. Stock carbon fibre non painted is $1350.
Was looking at getting the GRS hunter light (I’m a sucker for laminated wood), but at 1.3k cost plus the need to do glass bedding and the thing weighs 1.05kg (compared to 713g for carbon fibre) this seems like a much better choice.
The Stocky ones will be interesting to see, local prices are getting up there
I contacted stockys and they won’t ship/supply to NZ.
If anyone does manage to get one from them I will jump in on the order and split shipping etc

The uk professional price is around the £400 +vat , sold for recommanded retail at £699.
That shows you how much fat there is in them …and who is greedy and who is not.
When you realise that the manufacturing process pretty much all came from nz… it is the snake bitting it’s on tail
I'd be pretty keen to see one of the Kroseg (or Hi-Tec) Howa Mini stocks in the flesh as they are as light as anything that I'm aware of, if anyone in Auckland has one and would be open to letting me check it out please give me a PM?
The original price was $1k which is a lot to put down without actually handling the key interface between rifle and myself.
Apparently the stocks are nasty. Most users of the new superlite have suggested it's hard to tell if it's plastic or carbon, that it's flexy. The superlite seems a miss. The achieved the weight by trimming a barrel giving a terrible stock and giving its the old howa mini plastic fantastic bottom metal. The superlite seems to be a spec sheet chaser.Quote:

The Hi Tech howa mini stock I've used was fantastic and I really want one, I also really don't want to pay for one at the new prices.
the lack of stability in the Nz carbon fibre stock market is irritating, none of them seem to last more than a year or 2 without going broke, name changes, etc.
Of course Ken didn't have a choice, RIP
Having some personal experience in composites, I was highly impressed with the workmanship of the one Hi-Tec Tikka stock that I have actually handled. It was the most well-finished and well laid-up CF stock I have come across to be honest, the only equal I have seen is the Sako Carbonlight.Quote:

My Kroseg stock arrived today. That was quick (placed order on 2nd of May, was quoted June / July delivery)
Overall quality feels very good, most importantly it is light as at 749g !!:D

The Tikka stock is much better in my opinion because of the alloy block which the Howa didn’t have .
I also have a Stocky’s Carbon on my Howa 1500 223 20 inch Varmint barrel which I imported into Australia last year .

I actually really like the Stocky’s, only complaint would be the comb isn’t as high as the Hi-Tec stocks .

The Kroseg stock feels very grippy and slightly sticky / tacky (not sure if this is the right term to describe it)- so it is easy to hold and won’t slide when wet.
