Left hand .223 using AR mags?

I'm planning on purchasing a couple of .223 rifles to fill the gaps in my gun rack.

Thinking about a Troy pump action, and a left hand bolt action that would ideally use the same AR-style magazines.

Visited the websites of Ruger, Remington, Savage, Mossberg, Howa etc. Savage do offer 2 options (and good on them!) but they're both heavy chassis types...not really suitable for what I do.

    Any suggestions fellas?

Nothing im aware of at the moment. The closest you could get is a left hand tikka and use the aftermarket mags, or put a AI bottom metal on it and use AICS style 223 mags. Also do the same with a rem if you could find one.
There is also the ruger scout version in 223 but I don’t think it’s made in left anymore. I did see some in Aussi cabelas on line a while ago.
The Remington pump rifle takes AR mags.
My solution was a left hand Blaser R8.

Ruger do have some nice LH rifles but (according to their website) none in .223 at all.

    https://www.ruger.com/search/lefthanded/rifle

They make this cool Ranch model in 5.56 with AR mags but only in right hand. Bugger. Maybe next years' catalogue will have something.

Thanks for the ideas, I'll keep searching...

Mate - Have owned one in 300Blk and a mate had a 223 - The extraction of the Troy played havoc with the brass so maybe if you have lots of factory yes but if reloading I'd be checking on that to make sure it wasn't just his one.

Yeah the Troy seems to have had a few problems with extraction and parts breakages, and as you say, distorts the brass for reloaders. I don't reload and don't pick up .223 brass.

The latest new generation Troy models for sale in NZ look a bit different and hopefully they've sorted out those issues. Damn right I will be doing more research before handing over the clams.

Also considering the Remington 7615 (reports of very average accuracy?) and the ISSC pump arriving in NZ later this year.

Yeah it's the fluting in the barrel. They are only good for three reloads - I'm okay with that.

Hear that Ruger have stopped the manufacture of the "American" model, starting something new.

Do you have any idea on who will import those ISSC PARs?
