    Leupold fake or real?

    Hiya I can’t find where to check serial number ? Has anyone got one that can verify it’s real to me I think it is

    Pretty sure most of the fakes had that same 8888 serial

    Aside from the known fake serial number, the missing gold ring is the other indication (it is missing in the photo?)
    Apparently some of the fakes are OKish but of coarse worth a fraction of the genuine item.
    Read where guys have knowingly bought them.

    Not genuine that’s for sure.

    I also don’t recall a genuine mark 4 ever having a gold ring either

    They were military scopes and didn't need the civilian gold highlight.

    The 8888SC scam is a really old one now. I think there are other numbers now used.

    Correct for Mark 4. Commonly corrupted rings on the VX-IIIs though.
