    Leupold VX-1

VX-1 3-9x40. Found a couple of these for sale for about $220, brand spanking. Are they any use? I've not used Leupold yet(on own rifles anyways) and need to put something on a .243 temporarily until I can afford better, then just chuck it on a .22 or keep as a spare. Probably not the best power for a bush gun, but as I say, just short term. Or is it false economy?

nothing wrong with a vx1 will last for years on a 243 long as you look after it.

A 3-9-40 is great in the bush, i often use it at 4x and works well. Nothing wrong with a VX1 at that price. Handy if you need a longer shot as well with the 9x power. The only advantage i see in a smaller powered scope for the bush is the weight, but leupold scopes are light compared to others so a 3-9-40 gives you better options i recken. i have the bushnell elite 3-9-40 on my 243 and a leupold VX3i 3.5-10-40 on my 308 and both are great bush scopes and fine for longer range, recommend both when you upgrade or a burriss fullfield ii as rated that as well for the price .

Thanks lads, will order 1 today. I will likely upgrade to a VX-3 at least, when I get back and settled.
A mate here in Ireland only uses Swarovski and S&B, one day I'll get there!
