    Absolutly the pinical of winchester rifles! The brass frame 1866 and 1873s are amazingly smooth.

    It's good that they have come down to realistic prices too. This one was $800 nzd, bore is mint but that probably not the original barrel.

    I had a long rummage inside a Model 1876 last year.
    Pretty interesting rifle and yes very smooth

    But I just can't understand why anyone would want an 1876 with a close coupled double set trigger on it !
    That trigger cased a lot of drama and heartache
    I'm sure the Winchester collectors like all the bells and whistles on their rifles.
    But those sort of factory extras are next level complicated and spare parts do not exist. So avoid them like the plague

    @Wingman ! Seriously

    Winchester were in trouble with the 73 stretched to the 76
    They didn't have anything that could take the 45-70 cartridge

    Winchester would just be a footnote in history if J M Browning hadn't saved their arse with the
    85, 86, 92, 94 and 95

    The 85 is the best if the lot, but the 86 saved them

    ( wet day blues so just throwing it out there)
