    Lighter weight rifle hardcase recomendations

Anyone got any recomendations on a lighter weight hardcase to fit a rifle for air travel? Will go going long haul so needs to be pretty tough and running into weight issues with all the gear already so ideally on the lighter side of things. Rifle is long at 1210mm as well. Cheers

Just get a pelican. Cases take a beating in transit. Can’t fault mine

I have three different firearm hard cases I have used for air travel.
Pelican 1750 case - solid, but heavy - 12.65 kg
Plano Promax 1531 Single Rifle case, a scoped rifle fits. Has Pillars for improved protection against compression. 3.40 kg
Plano Promax 1532 Double Scoped Rife Case. Has Pilars for improved protection against compression. Has internal restraint straps to prevent rifle movement inside the case. 7.46 kg

Both Plano cases come supplied with standard ripple foam which is pretty flimsy. With the single case I cut to shape two inserts of high density foam ( an old sleeping mat ) and fitted this under the ripple foam. It makes the case much stiffer to close but the rifle doesn't move during travel due to being held much more firmly. I also cover the scope with a well padded Swarovski Scope Cover as further insurance against knocks.
The single case is the one I've used most and, so far, had been perfectly satisfactory. Once in Texas I watched baggage handlers loading luggage into a plane's hold. The guy grabbed my rifle case off the trolley and literally threw it about two metres onto the converyor into the plane. It landed with such a thump I was afraid of scope movement / damage, but later found everything tickety boo.

Sorry I don't have dimensions handy but you might check online to see if your rifle fits although I assume it would.

If you want light, then the cheap cases sold by H&F and GC would fit the bill. Whether you would risk them with the baggage handlers is another issue. If you want sturdy and cheap: https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/t...=en_NZ&start=3

If its only for one firearm then get a case that fits your rifle broken down into two parts . Shorter is better - full length cases are an arse to travel with as the dont fit in car boots or on airport baggage trolleys.
    Smaller is better
