Attachment 179144Attachment 179145Attachment 179151 Stoked with the result, especially the weight and the tikka mag system fitted, Ill put some pics of it all ready to hunt. has a nice matt pray finish and I have just mounted a light weight recoil pad. Might be time to find a carbon bipod.

Going to try a camo finish on this one. I'm waiting on some better carbon to arrive so I'm using up the one that got folded so I figured a camo dusting will cover the fold marks. I still want to get it to look like carbon though so I wont over paint it.

On your first stock does that weight include the recoil pad or is that extra

What did the blank on this one weigh in at?
-
Hi Stocky, I got the weight down to 500g on this one, it wasn't such a big deal now that I have done the featherweight build. 650g finished would be nice on this build... this one is more about refining the process and adding colour.

Hi Remmodel7, just weighed it. 500g with swivel studs and recoil pad

I hope the OP doesn’t mind others adding their projects to this thread. This could become a good resource for others looking at having a go.
Thanks to Scott sending out a blank I’ve now got the shape down. Will need some finer sanding now and inletting of the bottom metal which I have been dreading.
I’m seriously considering just painting it rather than going through the wrapping process. What does the forum think?
I need to order or make a recoil lug so I have time to sit on it and decide which way to go.
For those with wooden stocks; regardless of how it is finished I will drill through to install a limbsaver. How do I prevent these holes becoming an inlet for moisture. Should I drill over size and then fill with epoxy to seal the wood then screw into the epoxy?
For the front pic rail I’ll epoxy in t nuts which should seal it.
Cheers
