Had a blokes look on uncle Google but didn't come up with much.
Are their any tools or tricks to cleaning the locking lugs and breech face of the AR?
I have a chamber brush with the stainless brush on it but it is not doing the job. She is starting to get a build up around the breech face and I cannot reach all of it.

You can get proper brushes for the barrel extension but I've honestly never bothered to clean it.
Yep used them but not the best, they tend to fall off the end of the rod. @R93 I use a 12ga Snot Gun brush to clean the lugs and breach face, much better tan the chamber brush.Quote:

Yes I did say that and I stand by it as far critical moving parts and barrels are concerned.
My AR barrel has not seen a brush yet. Just wet and dry patches.
The area I want to clean is not critical to the action of mech, although it could if left, cause a stoppage. I can't afford a stoppage in a match.
So it is not going to wear from a clean every once in a while.

I've found that a paddle pop stick, sliced with a very sharp knife @ 30 odd degrees to a fine point, can really shift the muck. The wood isn't going to marr anything in there except the carbon buildup, and with a good squirt of ballistol a day before it all loosens up nicely.

One of these picks wrapped in cloth and sprayed with mpro7 gun cleaner works for me, but I hardly clean mine.
1000 rounds and counting...
I have a piece of brass that looks like a long toothpick. I just use that and CLP for any carbon.
the rest is just an old toothbrush and plenty of 1x1's
