Might be better off getting a katipo research stock. The grip panels are removable for that reason.

If you are going down the track of making a leftie stock for a right hand action, consider making it ambi dextrous so both left and right hand shooters can use it. It essentially means that you make the left side so that it is comfortable and fits you, then make the right side the same. Doesn't work with thumbhole designs as well, but something like the Knoxx Axiom or Knoxx Talon is an example. (Think of the shape and style rather than the materials used.)

Bugger that, if I'm making a stock I ain't letting anyone else play with it! And I was thinking thumbhole going on a cz455 17hmr but not sure my piece of totara is going to be big enough

Fair enough. Part of the reason I suggested ambidextrous is when you are presented with an off hand shot. I had one on a 223 at one point and while it was great to use when I was presented with a shot that would require me to use it lefty, I could not as there was no way to grip through the thumbhole....

As for allowing others to use it, it can be great if they get an idea to follow suit and want to try it beforehand, or for showing off if it is a really great job. Either way, all the best and would love to see pictures when you are finished. Sounds good.
