    Marlin 1895 SBL

    Afternoon All.

Just wondering if anyone has seen a Marlin 1895 SBL around in NZ?

Dad recently watched a movie (Wind River) and all of a sudden wants one, but i can't seem to find them. They're advertised on the GC site, but they dont have any in stock.

it's the Stainless , Laminate .45-70 Marlin 1895 with the Rail on top w/ Ghost ring.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Lads!

Great film. Find out who imports marlins to NZ, and contact them. If they won’t deal direct with you, H&F and GC both sell them, so can probably facilitate an order of one.

They're a very purdy rifle - That Marlin also featured in Jurassic World, would make a fantastic dino-killer.

I generally don't deal with my local H&F as they've proved a complete lack of knowledge in firearms on several occasions @tanqueray (I even got a Weaver Rail when i asked for a Picatinny by one of their "Gunsmiths")

BUt you're right, I will give them a go.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Neither H&F or GC inspire me with confidence, not to mention their lack of morals (H&F with Swazi-gate, and most things GC do).

Masper - the main importer for Remington/Marlin for NZ is Outdoor Brands (Auckland): https://www.outdoorbrands.co.nz/

I've sought Marlins before with them. They require you buy through one of their retailers eg H&F. They have a back order of 1895s due from the States - as all paperwork held up by govt shutdowns etc. Someone should really give Trump his wall. About 5m high and 3m x 3m square. Then put the bugger in it. Permanently.

Have just spoken to Chris at Outdoor Brands on 0272852624 - call him and he'll give you the info for getting a new 1895. Otherwise watch trademe but won't be many coming up 2nd hand.

Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.

Secondhand should only be 60% of new price, some wanker stuffs up a perfectly good rifle and wants to make a profit

What a monumental balls up. I'm a bit disappointed that gunsmith didn't try and talk to the owner out of that.... and lo and behold it is then for sale, so what exactly is it about butchering rifles and expecting to get the labour cost back that people don't understand??? That SBL has gone from a somewhat expensive niche rifle (for what it is), to a worthless piece of junk, at not far off double the price of a new one...

@Masperjay, have you or your Dad shot one of these 45-70s? They are quite lively in full throttle mode. Very bloody loud too. I would love one but would struggle to deal with the effect on my hearing in dense woodland, which is where I would want to use one of these rifles.
