    mauser bolts-which one

I need a mauser bolt for the 270 project. One of the sources I have checked has these to offer. One good basic style bolt. The other is a butter knife shape
Thoughts on each? Cost the same so irrelevant. Only a basic mauser parker hale so nothing flash really needed

    Greetings Csmiffy,
If you are going to fit a scope I would go for the one with the knob. The spoon job will need to be replaced to fit a low scope.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Are you able to try them in your action including a locking lug contact check?

The one with the round knob is what I would go for. Will need to notch receiver so bolt closes, need to check lug contact and headspace before using.

Yep, the round knob all the way. That butterknife is literally made from a butterknife handle I think, I'm pretty sure theres one with that exact same engraved pattern downstairs

@grandpamac that's a bit of a bugger. The supplier was instructed that it will be on a scoped rifle and its intended purpose. He picked the most suitable @zimmer nope-not local. But this will be going to the gunsmith for the barrel change/headspace. If it needs a little lapping then so be it. It would be nice to get some truing etc done but that just isn't in the budget.
I doubt there is someone in CHCH with half a dozen bolts but it could be worth the ask.
It would've been heaps easier if one of them had a better safety already modified for scope use.

the round knob one has had the original handle cut off and repositioned for use with a scope . It should be fine and should drop strainght in - but you will need to check headspace and lug contact.

The butterknife one will probably work just as well but may need a little adapting to clear the scope.

@garyp it is a parker hale safari model. Wouldn't the receiver already be done?
I do get it though-definitely get it done. All part of the bolt fitting part. I can do minor stuff but not barrel swaps/head spacing or bolt bending lol. Minor non drastic fitting is well within my grasp.
