    Mid range Leupolds

Could some one tell me just where the VX.R and VX3i sit in the line up of the leupy range

The VX.R has a higher price point {manufactures spec} but it sits below the VX3! on the site.

I'm not sure I totally understand the function of the VX.R
    Thanks.

No 100% sure. I have heard the VX R is not as good optically but don't really know. The Leupold web site might be helpfull?

I've come to the conclusion after a heap of research and looking through plenty of leupold's that a VXR = VX2 with a 30mm tube and Illumination.

    Ta. I'm actually comparing the VX3i 2-8x36 and the VX.R 3-9x40.
Am keen for another VX3 2-8x36 but come across the VX.R and thought I'd ask you fellows about them.

If it's for a dedicated bush rifle the illumination is a great feature in my opinion. A mate of mine has the 3-9 VX R and prefers it to his Swarovski for the bush. Very quick target acquisition.

Nah, looking to lighten the 30 06 a bit , has a fairly hefty Leica Er on it at the moment and I bought one of the leupy 2-8's for the 9.3 a year or more back and am liking it a fair bit.

I've got a 2.5-8 VX3 on a Kimber and find it next to useless in low light. Might be my eyes! I got a 4-12 VX-R that im going to try when I get some 30mm rings.

The VX3? Let me get the 30mm rings sorted and I'll flick you a PM.
The VX3 also has a S.O.D on it in MOA so that might be up you alley!

is it a vx3 or a vxIII ? the older vxIII was not so good in low light.
