Leica 1600 is all I need.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

I don't know what sort of hunting you guys are doing but I find glassing for long periods with one eye (scope or spotting scope) is a real pain and the 3.4 mm exit pupil of a leica rangefinder is a bit limiting as the light drops off.

Totally agree that binoculars wld be preferable if glassing for a while for me too. But if I can begin with reasonable glass for one eye, that's a tad more affordable atm than good glass for two eyes! And the weight difference appeals too.

You're right, it can fatigue your eye somewhat. I don't know... I carried both and just found myself hardly ever bothering to take the bino's out anymore after buying the 1600's. By the time my eye gets a bit tired, the whole area is pretty well glassed.

Last light it does struggle, but not so much that you wouldn't see something significant like a deer. Maybe a rabbit but meh.

I'd probably think hard about range finding binos if I ever found myself wanting to carry them again. Massive and unwieldy as they are. It's just such a massive pain in the ass carrying two optics... for me anyway haha. I like pocket access to everything I might want quickly.

I have got a lot of shooting stuff through them... hey at the end of the day pretty-much everything you buy now comes from China, the only difference is whether it goes out the front door or the back door. I have bought three scopes so far and they are great... no they aren't Leupolds but then I didn't pay a grand for them either!

I have a monocular which is variable I think from 6-24 or something and is all good, can be hard to use at higher magnifications (hard to hold still) but really small and light to carry so it's 6 in one and half dozen in the other. A spotting scope is the best IMO but heavy and have to pull it out/set it up.

I have a pair of 10x Bushnell bino's, but leaving them at home is one less thing to carry. The bino's are better, sure, but the Leica glass I find good enough, and it stays hung around my neck and zipped into chest pocket at all times.

It's a shame all the range finding bino's I've tried weigh more than both put together and are fucking huge.
I have geovids the binocular harness I wear with them I don't even notice they are on ,they stay put when moving fast and don't flap around make carrying binocs or bino /rangefinder a breaze.

Two eyes are better that one assuming you haven't been cheating playing pool with other forum members and still have two eyes. I bought a 'normal' pair of binocs in a reasonable brand and quality but about 5 years ago I bought the mini Leica's 10x25's I think and they are all I use now. You only need one pair for life so worth the investment. I take them everywhere now - not just hunting ... the kids sport, the beach, the footie ... I just leave them under the seat. All my mates can't believe what a pleasure they are to look through and you can completely relax whilst spotting as the clarity it extraordinary.
