You are of course talking about lawyers.
Your rant about cars makes no sense. Or not that I can see anyway.
If he brought a proper hunting rifle in a proper hunting calibre like 7mm08 or above, he might not need a 20 or 30 round magazine on his 'hunting' assault rifle.
If the weedy fellow needs a lightweight rifle he could buy a Kimber Montana. Or a gym membership.
Not sure if deliberately obtuse or stupid
Barely even warrants a response, like I said don't take the bait. Don't get triggered by sub standard trolling.
Don't feed the troll. It offers nothing constructive to this forum.
Ignore it.
Hunting is just one of many lawful uses for firearms, some of which are not well suited to bolt-action rifles. Don't judge your fellow lawful firearms owner on his choice of firearm. Doing so just makes you a pawn of the anti-gun lobby, and therefore a traitor to the rest of us (divide and conquer). Traitors are the lowest form of life! I think it is time for you to re-assess your attitude.:pissed off:
@systolic people have firearms for other activities than just hunting. Gasp !
He obviously ignored my parallel universe scenario... Thought maybe a light bulb would turn on but neeewww....
You just don't get it do you? The connection between why you need a car of a certain size and spec in line with why we choose to use what firearm we own? Can I make myself any clearer?
Also for clarification purposes if you actually had a clue of what you were talking about(you do this often young one) then you would be aware that a AR 15 is NOT a assault rifle but a modern sporting rifle....
Hey I dare you to go along and see how well you do at a service rifle shoot if you think your beloved 7-08(I'm guessing you have the man bag to carry your sanitary pads too).
Because if a 20" 7-08 is a "proper rifle" it will have no trouble keeping up in all aspects of the shooting disciplines?
You are a fine example of the source of separatism within the firearms community and one who is likely to assist in our downfall?
End of
Add to ignore list like I did some time ago, no further problems.
Sorry guys, slightly off topic but I too wondered what was the point of the ar15 rifle, so I started reading about them and the more I read the more I started to understand and like the ar15 concept. An American gun writer suggested that instead of calling them a "black rifle" or " assault rifle" or in NZ a MSSA he suggested MSA ( modern sporting rifle ) and I think he has a point, because thats what I now think it is. The Ruger precision rifle is a bolt action target rifle based on the ar15 platform, and maybe more rifles will built on the same platform
"assault rifle" and "modern sporting rifle" are both equally incredibly stupid and meaningless made up nomenclature
Whilst I believe that your AO said that to you and perhaps that he hasn't heard anything about such changes, I refute the sentiment that a change to legislation is needed to change the status quo.
We've seen plenty of changes to the rules in the last few years via police policy and nothing more.
I like he term "battle rifle" because it just sounds cool, like it has a noble purpose, and I get to own one, whereas most everything else with "battle" in front of it is normally ultra cool but quite quite a task to own, like a battle tank or a battle ship! [emoji106]
However this is only what they were originally designed as, thay have been adapted for sporting purposes now.
Much like radar and sonar were originally developed for battle, we don't get upset that they have been adapted for other uses now too do we?
The only trouble is your not technically accurate. Main battle rifle (a much cooler term than Assult Rifle imho) refers to something firing a full power cartridge so a 303, M1 Garand or a M14\M305 is a main battle rifle. A AR-15 doesn't fire a full power cartridge.
Anyway, John from NZRAC has posted a good comment on FB. The Act says a firearm less than 762mm IS a pistol, not CAN be a pistol. As John says, we law abiding citizens keep our MSSAs with folding or retracting stocks at 762mm overall length or greater at all times anyway, so if the Police shorten the stock to measure it, they are the ones doing it, not you. Have witnesses or record this if it occurs.
