Nagant M44, M38 is similar, where to buy?

    Hello knowledgeable people,

First off, apologies if this is in the wrong location, I'm a new guy.

Can someone please tell me where I can buy an m44 or m38 mosin nagant? I have been looking online, emailing gun shops, and looking on trade me etc. I have come across one m38 recently but that's it! Are they the types of rifle I need to go to auctions to buy? Or perhaps just keep an eye out and be patient? Do people trade them through sites such as these?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry, I was supposed to write M38 OR similar. Dummy!

Well there are 3 mosins on trademe at the moment. They come up frequently. There are heaps of em round. Reloaders used to sell them by the barrel full pretty cheap. There may even be a forum member who's looking to flick one off. The trick is to do your homework and figure out what model/ nationality/ you are after so you pick one you'll be happy with

I have bought both the models you have mentioned, and others, off trademe in the last few years.
    Just bide your time.
The carbines do attract a premium compared to the full rifles.
You could try the collectors auctions as well

    I have a factory FTR'd 1946 M44 for sale, $500.

Its shot maybe 20 rounds in the time I have owned it. The barrel etc is as new as far as I can tell. There is a small factory repair to the stock where the built in bayonet damaged it a wee bit. Comes with a soldiers parts kit or 2.

I also have a hard to get RCBS neck die for the 54R cartridge, it took me 18months to get it and $150NZ for that as its brand new and un-used and what it cost me.

    PM me if interested.

Thanks for the reply. As mentioned I have looked on trademe. Those three mosins: one is a bog standard 91/30, one a sporterized version, and the last one is not even a mosin. It is a K98 mauser varient. I am after a carbine version (m44, m38 etc)

Most if not all of the blueing is there, it mostly looks as new. I think the stock has been sanded however but not by me. All I have done is I have stripped it and re-assembled it, cleaned and oiled it every 1 or 2 months. I could find no mods or faults. As far as I can tell its stock and standard but I am no expert on these. I have also headspace checked it myself before firing it. The bore looks as new as far as I can tell.

I'm selling it as I'm into Palma/FTR, Enfields and ARs now and need the cabinet space. 3 expensive hobbies (excluding wife and children) are enough, LOL.
