Looks good on paper. Schott is the same glass used in IOR yea? Always liked that glass.
Yep - Schott makes the glass used in IOR scopes, as well as the glass top on my induction hob. Like most companies that make lenses, I suspect there are different grades of lens filling different pricing and quality niches.
Specs sound good, will need to see a few reviews before I rush out and buy one.
Although if they turn out to be rubbish, at 34 ounces can always use as a boat anchor!
This guys are supposed to be the new top of the line :
ZCO Zero Compromise Optic - Home
Scott glass as well.
But a 36 mm tube, another pein in the but to find rings for!
looks very similar to the trijicon tactical scope i think
They reckon they use the highest grade of glass available from Schott
Tahr it will be interesting to hear your thoughts on this new scope once you have had time to shoot with it, sounds good for the money.
Tracking says it’s been at customs for 10 days and I haven’t heard a peep from them yet.
A comparable scope would be the well-thought-of SWFA ?
Tract Toric 4-20x50 963g 348mm 20mRad USD1154
SWFA SS 5-20x50 890g 372mm 30mRad USD1499
S&B PMII 5-20x50 870g 299mm 16mRad USD3639
I suppose "less is more" if a Schmidt comes into your budget .
Price indication on the Zero Comp scopes is $3500-$3600 USD
They look good.... but at price I'd go for an ATACR until they get really established?
Interested in your thoughts when your scope gets here Thar.. what was the total cost or are you still waiting on the good folk at customs?
NZD 1,235.00 inc GST delivered will be very close unless there are other customs charges. But no more than 1,300 I expect. When I was considering it I was comparing it with a VX5 for price and similarity.
I've ordered a a ballistic turret for it too.
Toric aren't actually geared for export so all my dealings have been direct with one of the owners Jon Allen. A bit of mucking around through emails but no problems at all. The replies are very quick and very obliging.
I've always liked trying out new and interesting gear and I'm really looking forward to getting this on a rifle. I have high expectations.
@SlimySquirrel I paid customs' today and will have it in a couple of days. The final all up price to my gate was $1,285.00

Put it on the Weatherby
I've put in the Hawke as a lower priced, higher spec comparison to bracket the Toric.
Each scope name has a link to a site with more details.
Hawke Frontier FFP 5-25x56 810g 397mm 15mRad USD769
Tract Toric 4-20x50 963g 348mm 20mRad USD1154
SWFA SS 5-20x50 890g 372mm 30mRad USD1499
S&B PMII 5-20x50 870g 299mm 16mRad USD3639
Looking forward to the review
What's the warranty like B?
following
So I've had it for 24 hours and done an initial assessment.
Well packaged but no sort of lens caps.
Its a gun metal grey colour.
Everything works as it should.
Crisp etched reticle.
Turret dial-able and sharp clicks. Not mushy. Taller target turret with zero stop and cover provided as an extra in the box.
Weighs 20 oz
I've compared it to a new HD5 I've just received back from the factory.
I think the glass on the HD5 might be very slightly brighter, but it has always suffered from light flare on the lens. I tested them both for this with a lamp in the background and the HD5 showed red flare and the Toric was perfect.
More once Ive tried it on a rifle.
Is the reticle fine enough for longer range rabbit shooting Tahr.
I have the ballistic reticle and its about the same thickness as the Zeiss z600/z800 so I would think that it might be marginal for fine bunny stuff.
Thanks.
I asked them for subtensions a week or so ago but the said they were still working on putting that info up
I could email and they said they would give them to me but wanted to wait until you got yours to see what you think of the dialing ability and the return to zero consistency.
Pretty happy with my Athlon Ares BTR so far.
Clicks are a bit mushy but accurate.
Reticle is excellent but have not shot bunnies with it. Being ffp it would be better with a floating centre dot.
Athlon certainly have a good stated warranty.
