I was feeling the hankering for a new cartridge to shoot. Something light recoiling, fast and deer capable.
Was looking at 6mm rem AI and 243ai. Of these the 243 appealed more due to brass and reamer availability. Still, AI brass forming faff.
Next, I was looking at 6-284 and 6-06. These had easy speed I was looking for though case prep more complicated and need to buy a reamer.
During this I kept referring back to the 25-06 that nicely met my goals at normal hunting ranges and found a lightly used screw in barrel to boot. 25-06 shooting 100gr speer hot cor at around 3300fps will be unleashed soon.
Greetings,
For some reason, that I am unable to explain, my shelves hold dies for both the .257 Roberts and .25-06 in spite of me never have owned a .25 calibre rifle. Still we don't know what the future holds and you just never know.
Grandpamac.
