    New project rifle advice

    I am in the midst of building a new rifle to replace the 7 saum
    I sold @BRADS It will be based off a rem 700 short action I was
    Going to build a .284 but I don't think even with extended mag box Etc it will work well the other option is to build a WSM/saum in Either 7 or 6.5mm variety but I was thinking of going smaller this time The rifle needs to be capable to 500m in the right conditions I was thinking .260ai or 7-08ai but would like to hear from Anyone using these or something similar for first hand experience

    Just pick a cal you like, they will all work at that range.

    A 284win will work in a short action, but the projectile gets seated so deep in the case may as well go for a 7mm08.
    Really anything mentioned so far would work at the ranges you are talking.
    Pretty apparent that brass/dies cost and selection isn't a factor so pretty much anything goes.

    Go for 6.5saum, sound like the most bestest 6.5 cartridge at the mo, and it's more exotic than a plain ol' 7saum.
