New Scope Choice
Ive been putting money away for a decent scope and now have the hard choice.
Looking at either Kahles KX 3-9x42 or Swarovski Z3 3-9x36. Has anyone had experiences with either or could recommend one over the other? Will be going on a Finnlight 7/08, used for bush hunting. My last fav scope is a Bushnell 4200 Elite 2.5-10...
Opinions either way appreciated!

stay with the bushnell good low power and rainguard which is unbeatable for bush hunting in wet conditions
-
Leica and Zeiss also have rainguard equivalents called Aqua Dura and Lotu Tec.

Id get a zeiss terra, 3-9x42 just got one from optics planet its absolutely fantastic and in tour price range plus the RZ reticle options

Both nice scopes, light and compact as well. I looked at a Z3 on Saturday. I liked its simplicity. For me it is out of that and a vortex. Have you checked out the Vortex 2.5-10x44? Cheaper.
Out of curiosity how much was the Kahles?

Also look at the Leica ER, They have come out with a new illuminated reticle model called appropriately enough the ERI.
Euro opitc has the ER on sale at the moment 2.5-10x42 and 3.5-14x42 with various reticles.
I chose the 2.5-10x42 with the ballistic reticle and so far am very happy with it, though to qualify that, I have not used it in the field, just physically examined, wound the turrets up down and back to the middle and mounted it on a rifle.

Have a look through an actual scope at the reticle.
I found the swaro ones too thin and the kahles have a very nice tight windowed duplex style on some models although the German No 4 is their standard.
Kahles are a dedicated scope/bino company, leaning towards military supply. They are a subsidiary of swaro, who have a large business in jewelry too.

German no4 best reticle ever. Even better with red dot centre
-
Go the swaro bud, if ya got the cash spend it. particularly if it going on a sako. Better in the low light than some of the cheaper brands

Ive got the Z3 3.5 x 10 great scope went for the 4A as it has thicker cross hairs so clear. I have had a 3 x 9 as well for the last 20years and no problems still a great clear scope.
