With you there, have had quite a few and now have upgraded everything to newer models and no issues with any...

There is of course an inherent problem with ruling out a entire brand after a bad experience with a product from the lower end of the range, you will eventually run out of brands to buy.

I have other Vortex scopes, much better than that one, but I don't have the $ to be buying that many scopes to worry about running out of brands!

But you're also buying piece of mind.
Not nice having to second guess everything.

@Gillie did you look through my Sig Sauer Whiskey5 3-15x44 at the GAS? Pretty practical and compact with good glass to boot.
@300_BLK No, I didn't have a look through it. I did have a play with one of their Tango 4 models a while ago though.
I like the reticle in this NF - not exactly what i want but a lot closer than the reticle options in the Whiskey5. Of course i am not the average hunter as i want a cross-over rifle for hunting and "hunter class" field shooting competitions as well.

Hunting an fishing North Shore has a Whiskey 5 for about $1800. Not sure which one but lovely piece of glass and not too heavy. Would love one myself.

I don't think so. I have moved away from MOA. Also it would replace a 2.5-10x50 Kahles multizero... and the sig tango4 I tried simply wasn't in the same league for low light performance. The NXS must be something like $2.5k to $3k new i would suspect - I haven't looked.
