    Over barrel suppressor

Hi i bought a second hand overbarrel suppressor a while back (Best mod I have done to the rifle)
Its a Gunworks Maximus 15 inch and its super quiet for a 7mm08. The only issue I have is when you bump (not even hard) it on a branch or a rock the back of the suppressor makes a nice 'clink' noise against the barrel which isnt ideal in close quarter bush stalking. Theres about .5mm to 1mm clearance between the suppressor and barrel is it supposed to sit snug against the barrel or have a the gap between the supressor and barrel?

THE CLINK, you have a couple of options, probaly the simplist is to wrap in couple of layers of insulation tape or better still horse bandage (stuff that sticks to itself, buy in rolls off trademe dirt cheap) or put a neopreme sleave over it.
yes .5-1mm clearance is ok/normal,if you want to close it up,again a wrap of insulation tape,on barrel this time, will give yo uthe reasurance..but basically just keep it screwed up snug and it wont move.

Wrap a bit of electrical tape around the barrel until it's touching but not snug.

If it's knocking that much though, sounds like the threads are maybe have some slop and/or there isn't much of a shoulder for the suppressor to butt up against.

This. Shouldn't be flopping around enough to contact barrel.
A neoprene sleeve fixes the normal clink experienced from things hitting the suppressor though. Or a horse bandage as MD says.

You can get the horse bandage from farmlands, cost me $4.50 the other day.

Does the suppressor have a nolothane (or similar) bush at the rear? The three centrefire suppressors (all different brands (ones a gunworks suppressor)) all have these bushes, making it a super simple if you want to fit to a new rifle, just buy a new bush, unscrew the old one, screw in the new, bore it out to the desired size.

No bush at the rear. I suspected that could be the case. I did also do the tape thing but it seemed like there should be a better way.
Ill have a look on the Gunworks website for a rear bush

Id just flick gunworks an email, and see if they have a good idea. they are far more helpful than what Im use to

If its a solid aluminum back one they could make up a new back section for it

Personally id just glue a 2cm piece of plastic inside the supp with superglue to take up the wobble and call it good,
or a bead of silicone as a shock obzorber

all are reversable and non damaging if you wanted to remove and do it more prettily later

I used my dpts without the back contact piece for years as well as muzzle forward that dont have that and they all work fine as long as they are not loose
