I've used a 008. They are good value for the money. They work exactly as described on the box. Good clarity and range with the built in IR which is excellent. Have shot Fallow out to around 250 metres with one.
However for another $300 I would take a close look at the new DS35.
ZeroPak Vacuum Sealers, Zero air Zero waste
a friend runs one and I set it up for him
they do work ok but I would definitly try one before buying
The new pard scopes are apparently a lot better. I had a pard 008 but had quite a small field of view, because of the mounting setup it also got knocked out fairly easily in the side x side.
I use a clip on these days and I find it considerably better. Shot a few deer out past 600 yards with it which you definitely wouldn't do with the pard 008.
if i were settig up again today I'd get a clip on for a good scope.
having said that, the 008 is bloody good, mine does rabbiting mostly these days. make sure you get one with a rangefinder as in the dark with no reference but the scope it is quite tricky to know how far you're pushing out.
I sold my Pard 008 to buy a Sytong HT60 3-8x instead, I was using it mainly for night pest (Rabbits, Pukeko and Possums etc) shooting which the minimum zoom of 6x on the Pard was just far too much for, in fact I don't think I have ever used more than the base magnification of 3 on the Sytong. I found 6x base magnification in a NV device very disorientating with a very narrow FOV.
And yes as above make sure you get one with an integrated LRF as its more or less impossible to figure out ranges when just looking through them, unless you are only shooting on properties you know well and have landmarks for judging ranges etc.
they have a built in rangefinder inside the scope
..And to add fuel.. The Pard DS35 has dropped $400 retail ! Typical...
I love mine though - replaced an Add On unit that I didnt get on with...
