Permit to import an E cat Firearm

    Hi guys,
Has any of you recently applied for a permit to import an E Cat weapon? if so, how did it all go?

Just trying to see if its even worth trying.

    Cheers

Applied for one a couple of months ago. Had the permit within 35 days.

    Go for it.

Best to just stick with the truth for your reason. Being that you will be using it for legal purposes (obviously) you can't go wrong with listing whatever your reason is for you permit.

Yes absolutely agree. I can just imagine when you say for hunting purposes, the police will turn around and say " just use a normal A Cat weapon" . So that is what i was wanting to know if NZShoota had put down hunting purposes. I will give it a go and see how I get on.

No I didn't use hunting as a reason. Sent you a PM.

Do they still require you hand over a current Ecat rifle for destruction to import a new one? Or is that rule long gone?
