    Pertable Rear Bag

With the Toby shoot coming up rather quickly I'm starting to look at some of the other gear that we will likely need. What is a good option for a cheap, light, portable, adaptable rear bag to put under the butt stock of the rifle? I was half thinking of a cylindrical pencil case filled with polystyrene beads (in a plastic bag) or maybe something else?

    What is everyone else using?

I've used a few different rear bags, ranging form lightweight DIY things to a decent make heavy bag.
Best I've used (and currently use) is this:
    https://www.shortactionprecision.com...-run-n-gun-bag

Really light weight, light enough that you can clip it to your rifle and not notice it's there.
Can be used on different ends of the bag for different heights.
And comes with a sling swivel so it'll mount to a sling stud, or can attach to you bipod/forend.

Despite being light weight, whatever the fill is makes for a really solid support that holds its shape well. I had a few home made polystyrene filled bags and found a real pain as they wouldn't hold the shape you put them in and would try to spring back to their normal shape.

Best part was I bought from a NZ supplier and the price was cheaper than it would've cost me to buy from the USA, without having to wait ages.
Got it from this place: https://gearlocker.nz/shop/sap-run-n-gun-bag/

Have a look on Trade Me under Hunting and Shooting- Assesories - Bipods and tipods, they have the front and back bags for sale as low as $20 up to about $ 35. With these ones you only get the bag you need to supply the fill.

Shooting Bags - What The Pros Use - PrecisionRifleBlog.com

Kerry at Precision Shooter has most of these available.
If you want one bag to do it all the SAP run n' gun bag is hard to beat.

Definitely not - a pussy stuffed in a bag is not very stable, infact depending on the pussy chosen, some may get very slippery and others may go as dry & hard as concrete.

Cat litter stuff seems to be very good. Not to heavy, retains shape, etc... and the balance of bag can go in the BBQ drip tray.

I think I have some of that stuff, so would be a good option for now.
