Thread: Polymer bolt stop for Ruger 10/22

I just fitted my suppressed Ruger 10/22 with one of these Polymer bolt stops. Has anyone used these? Do they make much difference? Cheers

yep, it was one of the first things I did to mine . It quietens it down a bit , but more importantly its gentler on the bolt when the rifle fires ..

I did it to mine and I didn't notice much if any difference. Suppressing a 10/22 is not very effective, the action makes a bit of a racket

Mine is a piece of clear poly tubing over a 4mm steel pin (read 4inch nail), works mint and cost $0. Definitely makes less racket.

I run one too and find it makes the action quieter. Makes you wonder why they haven't adopted this to their guns from the factory?

It took the clatter out of my 10/22 cycling and I'm happy about that. I haven't looked, but am anticipating some deterioration requiring replacement at some point. I haven't even put a thousand subs through it yet though.

I tested it out of the weekend. Wow it's so quiet now. It was quite funny because my friends both brought their .177 air rifles and they were louder and had more recoil lol. CCI 1070fps rounds definitely keep the noise down while performing extremely well on possums.

Yeah it does make it a fair bit quieter. I think mine was one of those soft rubber ones, can't remember the name or brand. Just hear a click really now with subs.

I've gotta say. For a rifle that shoots mainly possums and rabbits it is a great platform. That 10 round flush magazine is unbeatable. Mount your torch on top and you have a great package. Just need to have a few of those magazines pre-loaded in the pocket. I tried out some of those Tracer rounds at Gun shitty and they were a little bit average. About 1 in every 4 lit up. Good fun when they do though.

Be careful with tracer rounds in dry weather. Its like throwing burning matches around

But they cost 4c per shot and will kill possums just as eeffectively if not better than a 10/22. Witnessed it too many times to count. A mate dropping em every time with his shitty Gamo shadow .177 and the rest of us taking 2 to 3 with our .22lr rifles. We figured it was the effect of leaving the slug in the brain instead of zipping right through that dropped em first shot.
