Like ‘em or hate ‘em, H&F have outsmarted the whole shooting and hunting sports industry at about every turn. They have seen a few other chains and individuals off.

I remember not long ago that hunters were hot about boycotting them when they started to get hunting access tied up. The bluster lasted about five minute.

So watch for that. Hunters might say that they will support a small private business, but at the end of the day we are as fickle as hell.

Non-acceptable profit eventually means no shop, no matter how you cut it....

Overheads on a traditional shop are pretty high & shops face severe competition from the internet as illustrated constantly on this forum & others
Agreed, but i always look for a better deal buying stuff especially shottie ammo in bulk. Stirling always got my business because a) I got brilliant service and
    b) sometimes a discount.

In fact I sent a lot of others there because they (read James) gave good service not sure if they got $ off though.

Trouble is I am just one person and you won't make enough profit of me to pay your costs, my budget for new guns is already stretched. If its a choice of H&F or H&F then it most likely will be back to group buying in bulk via a couple of clubs I belong too.

All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

Wish someone would buy H&F here in Blenheim. The current owner and his staff are so far up there arse they must live in permanent darkness. They make you feel they are doing YOU a favour when you go in there to spend your hard earned. I point blankly refuse to spend a single penny with them these days

Yeah Nelson needs a small shop for shooting supplies but I've had issues with Stirling Sports for any products I've had ordered in, couple of scopes and suppressors have turned up and been different to what I ordered or just have never turned up and wasted my time
basically if it's on the shelf I'll get it from a shop. If not I'll order online

Yeah she sounds like their target demographic. What shits me about the Hamilton store is no-one knows anything about anything that isn't on the shelf, and even asking about the stuff on the shelf makes you feel like a grave inconvenience.

Is it not also owned by Mr Chris Scully? Owner of the Nelson store?

Sounds bad in Nelson with lots personal stuff creeping in. Best get Woolley [Napier h&f] to buy it to keep you fellas happy.Went in there about 3 years ago on way to Westport and cringed when overheard a staff member telling garbage to Joe Public about reloading.Small dwarf bloke who did fishing sales was friendly enuff.
